Week 15 Dec. 23rd - Jan. 3rd
This week shall be a bowl full of carnivores. I share with you Dionaea muscipula or the Venus Fly Trap. Please enjoy this fascinating group of cold blooded killers.
Week 13 Dec. 14th - Dec. 20th
Please pass the Clematis oops I mean the pepper. Once used many years ago as a substitute for black pepper. This week is this Clematis gone to seed. In all its toxic feathery glory. By the way I do not recommend eating this as you will experience internal bleeding if consumed in large amounts. I really like this version of the climbing beauty as you rarely give it any attention after all the pretty petals are gone. I hope everyone's holiday shopping is going great! You still have 8 days left.
Week 12 Dec. 7th - Dec. 13th
This was a rare find indeed. Only in the coldest of winter days could I find this beauty in a temperature regulated greenhouse. She stuck out like a sore thumb! :) For this week I present to you Strelitzia reginae well known as The Bird of Paradise. I don't know about you but I would love to be somewhere this bird flocks naturally.
Week 11 Nov. 30th - Dec. 6th
Week 10 Nov. 23rd - Nov 29th
Week 9 Nov.16th - Nov. 22nd
This is named after such a tasty morsel. This Friday we have Justicia brandegeana with no butter The Shrimp Plant. Please enjoy! With such a hectic week I am sorry I am late. What with Don's new car, Saxophone lessons, New Moon opening, a teenager birthday and a heart broken seven year old that thinks her older sister gets "Everything" Oh my! Thanks ahead of time for understanding.
Week 8 Nov. 9th - Nov. 15th
This week is a rare one indeed! Here in all its baby size glory I give you Agave americana better known to most as the Century Plant. Click here for a great link to a Century Plant in bloom.
Week 7 Oct. 26th - Nov. 1st
Week 6 Oct 19th - Oct 25th
Week 5 Oct 12th- Oct 18th
While visiting with my mother-in-law, my husband and I stopped with her to photograph a few of the remaining flowers in the English garden she tends. I found this bloom that I have to share with you. Here posing patiently is Nigilla also known as "Love in the Mist" hope all you enjoy this small fella. I know it was love at first sight for me.
Week 4 Oct 5th - Oct 11th
This week I have a sad kind of flower for those of you that follow history. I present to you Euphorbia Milii also known as "The Crown of Thorns" She flowers all year long to show her beauty maybe to seek forgiveness. Not only would you steer clear of her sap, it causes a skin reaction very similar to poison ivy. It is also very toxic and used to kill and stun fish. Please enjoy this sharp and toxic beauty.
Week 3 Sept. 28th - Oct. 4th
